Question by Phil A: What is the difference between automotive speaker cable and normal audio speaker cable ?
What would happen if I use automotive speaker cable on my home theater system ?
I can get a lot of automotive cable cheap from I guy, and all he says is he doesn’t know, just to try it . He’s selling me 15 meters for 10 bucks
Should it be just as good as the normal stuff, perhaps even better ? He said it was originally very expensive.
Just wondering ?

It is all in the wire gauge. There are slight differences in copper purity for audiofiles, and shorter wire length and better than longer ones when you setup. The only difference from automotive to home is in the plastic which is usually a little more flexible and durable.
US source of highest quality lowest price electrical goods: http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp
compare the price to there, but note it is always plus shipping and without taxes.
50ft 12AWG Enhanced Loud Oxygen-Free Copper Speaker Wire Cable is US$ 14.68
15m is 45ft. If it is top quality down to about 16 AWG it is a good price.(higher AWG is thinner wire not as good)
