What animal has the largest color spectrum?

by afagen

Question by Drifter: What animal has the largest color spectrum?
What animal has the widest range of visible colors?
Including humans (even though I would not consider humans to be animals)
@ James C- that does not answer the question, and some people due to their religious beliefs do not believe in evolution and therefore do not consider humans to be animals, just allow them to fall under the mammal classification.
Please respond to the QUESTION ONLY from now on!

If you’re talking about which animal can see the broadest spectrum of light it’s the mantis shrimp. They have up to 16 different light receptor cells in their eyes (humans have only cones and rods).
Anyway, humans are indeed animals and religious beliefs means nothing in the real world, regardless of which one someone may have. Evolution is fact, period. And yes, we tell this here because it’s the science category, not fairy tales…

African wild dog, it is beige with a black muzzle and some of its spots are black, as well as white spots. Its head is yellow with a black stripe along its forehead to the muzzle.

Well, I would imagine: we don’t know for sure. Butterflies apparently can detect a wide range. Some birds have a similar range as apes but it extends further into the ultraviolet. So that sparrow you see, where they say the male and female have the same plumage, may well be to the sparrow a “horse of a different color”. and you really shouldn’t show your lack of knowledge unless you desire to be admonished.

If memory serves, it is the mantis shrimp. Many insects and birds can also see into the ultraviolet spectrum, which is invisible to us.

By the way, mammals are a class within the animal kingdom, so if you acknowledge that humans are mammals, then you’re acknowledging that they’re animals.

    Kingdom – Animalia
    Phylum – Chordata
    Class – Mammalia
