What if there was zero force affecting a space ship in space. How much it would make it travel faster?

Question by Enhancer23: What if there was zero force affecting a space ship in space. How much it would make it travel faster?
In space gravity of other planets is affecting many things even our sun gravity has some effects on any space probe or space ship. Imagine if we could make a material that isolate the spaceship from any influence of any force. Will it make it go faster? If So How much faster?

You mean the force of the rocket on board would not push on it?
Obviously, such a substance is impossible as gravity is a characteristic of mass.
Whether a ship would go faster in this imaginary situation if the gravity involved was pulllng on the craft

What do you think? Answer below!

Well… that’s a hard concept. Gravity is the effect of space *curving* due to the presence of mass; any ‘material’ we create will be subject to the space/time curvature.

And, speed is the result of a force on a mass; if we can *reduce* the amount of mass while maintaining the same force, we can increase the speed attained…

However – the speed of light is not reachable by any true ‘material’ – at least, not in *our* universe. No matter how light the material is, no matter how powerful your engines are, you cannot reach the speed of light.

If there were zero force, it the spaceship would continue its trajectory without acceleration or deceleration. That is called inertia…? YES!!!

Most of our space probes use gravity assist particularly by Jupiter to reach the speeds that they do so somehow negating the effects of gravity though often a favorite of sci-fi would not be of benefit. Where it would be a benefit would be in launching material from a gravity well as in from the Earth’s surface. We would have to know a lot more about how gravity works before we could imagine a meta-material to bend it.

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt :
You simply require a Photon ship.
No… not a photon powered ship! a “Photon Ship” A
    ship constructed entirely of; Light.
Cruising speed c : 299,792.5 km per second.
    .
    All the best.
