Question by casey: Traveling, how to get wrinkles out of sportcoat packed in suitcase?
Traveling, small suitcase. Had to pack sportcoat in suitcase. How do I get the wrinkles out. I assume hotel will have iron. Can I iron out the wrinkles?

It would depend on the fabric. Check for any ‘care label’ on inside.

If it is worth it, ask the front hotel desk about service. Most offer reasonable pressing from a nearby dry cleaners.

Depending on how bad the wrinkles are you might spend a few dollars on a ‘wrinkle releaser’ spray at a grocery or drug store. Follow directions.

If the hotel has a cleaning service then I would ask them to do it. They will know the best way to get the wrinkles out.

If you aren’t sure about using an iron, turn the sport coat inside out and iron it that way. Start with a lower heat setting. If the wrinkles don’t come out straight away, you can always increase the heat.

A tip for packing clothes when travelling: If you roll your clothes up instead of folding them they are much less likely to get wrinkles. Has always worked for me.

-check the label first to see if the fabric can be ironed
-hang it up in the bathroom and turn on the shower with very hot water and let the steam help ease out the wrinkles about 15 minutes
-if the fabric can be ironed use a towel to place over the fabric then iron

    – also you may want to see if they have a valet service or if there is a dry cleaner near by
-always roll your clothes you don’t want to wrinkle instead of folding

Read the inside tag but I was a bridemaids and I had to travel with the dress and I have to packed in my luggage, what i did i hang it and took a hot shower and the stream of the hot water will get the wrinkles out you can try that and see if it works for you. Its like you are steaming the clothes like those steamer, just close the door of the bathroom so it will create more steam and when you are done just leave and close the door so it will help to get it out.

IF you can iron it, just iron it from the inside, or if you are ironing it, put a towel on top of where you are going to iron so it wont damage the fabric (Basically you are ironing the towel and the sportcoat will be under the towel.

Hope it will help you solve your problem
