In order to smooth a rough surface, roughen the smooth surface, make a shape on surface or remove some remnant on the surface, one should perform abrasive blasting, a process wherein you will apply some type of blast media to a surface with pressurized air to propel it. It can also do crack and joint repair. There are four variants in blasting process. They are as follows:

l      Shot blasting

l      Sand blasting

l      Soda blasting

l      Bead blasting

This process, blasting, is usually done to cars, metals and construction projects. Blasting system requires an air compressor, hamper and a nozzle. The materials being used in blasting may vary from large to small ones.

What is shot blasting? It consists of attacking the surface of a certain material with one or more types of shots. Usually, blasting is done to remove something on the surface. The shot may be sand, a small steel ball that comes with different sizes, granules of silicon carbide and alike. Shot blasting in North California can help you to determine the best shot to use.

There is also bead blasting. It is a process wherein you will put a high pressure on removing the surface deposits but without damaging the surface at all. Bead blasting can also be used in cleaning calcium deposits on pool tiles and removes the fungus then brighten the color. It can also be of help to auto body work in removing the paint. In bead blasting, it usually uses spherical particles of glass that are being shot with air pressure on certain surface to remove coating or just polishing it. Glass beads can make the smoothest work on removing coating to a surface while ground quartz is used for a shinier surface. You can also check other bead blasting equipment that will make your easier.

According to bead blasting in North California, there are three methods and they are as follows:

Glass beading is process that includes finishing, cleaning and peening. The beads being used here is made from a lead-free and soda-lime type of glass. It is an environment-friendly type of glass. The finishing is a process if texturing a material while cleaning refers to removing the caked-on grime and usually smooth the surface from welding. Peening refers to lightly cracking the surface materials.

Air bead blasting is a method wherein you will clean metal surfaces like aluminium, stainless steel and titanium and other softer metals that are being used in jewelry-making. It’s a low-cost method because the beads are not that expensive.

Wet bead blasting on the other hand is using both beads and stream of water. The process requires less energy compare to air blasting method. It is easier to use because the beads are being mixed with water. This process is usually done with building stones like granite, flagstone or concrete, sandstone and clay brick. When you mix these two materials, there will be low pressure that can be used with ordinary tap water.

These are just the basic things you need to know about blasting.
