Tips To Stop Binge Eating Behavior Even Though You Are Sure You Can’t

There are thousands of people suffering from binge eating. Many Americans are guilty of it. How do you know whether you are suffering from it? Here are signs of binge eating disorder !

If you too are suffering from this problem then here are helpful tips to end binge eating :

1. An easy process to end binge eating is to take smaller bites. Put in smaller morsels of food in the mouth. And chew each morsel of food for a long time.

When you put in large morsels in mouth, you will end up food quickly and may tend to eat more. Moreover, you will be unable to chew food suitably when taking big morsels.

These problems can be avoided by eating smaller morsels and chewing them thoroughly. This will slow down your eating and check overeating.

2. Whenever you feel a temptation to eat something, question yourself whether you are truly starving? Ask yourself whether the desire to eat is due to stress or any other negative emotions you may be feeling presently?

If you are not too hungry and the craving is mainly due to stress or negative emotions, then try your best to refrain from food at such times. You may really have to be tough with yourself and not allow yourself to eat food for the purpose of seeking comfort.

3. Bring to mind the uncomfortable feelings when you overstuff your stomach. Remember the guilty feelings you get after overeating. Too often we only think about the pleasant feelings food provides us.

However if we just for a minute dwell our minds on the uncomfortable feelings and guilt that almost always comes along with a round of overeating or binge eating, then we will feel less tempted to indulge in the habit.

4. Have an alternate activity ready. Binge eaters need to keep their mind busy with something else. When they are idle they will have a difficult time controlling their food cravings.

Try to find an activity which you like and which may take your mind away from food for a while. Different people may come up with different activities. Find one which you like and whenever you want to binge eat, engage yourself in that activity instead. Soon enough, you should find it easier to avoid binge eating most of the times.

5. Healthy eating: When you can’t fully stop your cravings, then atleast ensure that you are eating healthy foods which do not have lot of calories. This way you can prevent weight gain.

Fruits and vegetables are good alternatives to junk food. Since many people will find it difficult to completely refrain from binging all of a sudden, try to replace your snacks with fruits and vegetables to reduce the unsafe effects of binging.

If you are struggling to find out how to stop binge eating, then the above tips should be of great benefit to you.
